Frequently Asked Questions

Can I cook with these oils, or are they just for salads?

Great question! The answer is: Both, but you need to be strategic.

The 500ml Olios Natural Extra Virgin is a staple in your kitchen; you can safely use it at any temperature, from stews to frying (Yes, you can cook with olive oil!).

The 175ml Flavored Series (Pepper, Truffle, Basil, etc.) are "Finishing Oils." We recommend using them at the end of the cooking process or directly on the plate to keep their aromas vibrant. Heat can dissipate those beautiful fresh aromas; save them for your plate.

"Flavored" as in, does it contain artificial flavors or syrup?

Never. We don't work in a laboratory, we work with the soil. What you read on the label of our "flavored" Olios is exactly what's inside. Our chili oil contains real chili peppers, and our basil oil is infused with fresh basil leaves. Artificial extracts, "nature-identical" flavors, or chemical preservatives are not allowed in our kitchen. Both the color and the taste come entirely from the plant itself.

It burns my throat slightly, is the oil bad?

Quite the opposite, it's a medal of quality!

That slight burning sensation in the throat (we call it a "kick") indicates how rich the olive oil is in polyphenols (antioxidants). These values are very high because we harvest the olives "early harvest." If your oil flows like water and leaves no sensation, then you should really be suspicious.

Should I store the bottle in the refrigerator?

No, olive oil does not like the refrigerator! It solidifies in the cold and its structure can deteriorate. Also, keep Olios away from that excessively hot shelf right next to the stove. Its happiest place is a cool, dry pantry cabinet or a shaded corner of the counter, away from direct sunlight. Make sure to close its lid tightly, as oxygen is olive oil's biggest enemy.

What's the shelf life? Can I keep it forever?

Olive oil is not wine; it does not get better with age. It should be consumed fresh.
Bottled Olios have a shelf life of 18-24 months when stored in a cool place. However, once you open the bottle, we recommend consuming it within 3-4 months to capture that "first-day" freshness and aroma. We don't think it will last that long once you taste it anyway!

Why 175ml and 500ml? Are there no other sizes?

Our sizes were designed entirely according to usage habits.
175ml is the ideal size for placing on the table, fitting in the hand, and adding a finishing touch; its aroma stays fresh until it's gone.
As for 500ml, it was designed for those moments when you say, "I want to pour a lot, put it in the pot." For now, we're happy with these two, but we might have surprises in the future!

Is Olios vegan and gluten-free?

100% yes. Our production facility does not contain any raw materials with animal products or gluten. Olios is made only from olives, herbs, and spices. You can consume it with peace of mind.

Why tin can and not a glass bottle?

Because olive oil and sunlight don't mix!
Tin packaging blocks 100% of light. This means your oil's valuable polyphenols (antioxidants) and freshness are preserved for much longer than in clear or dark glass bottles. It's also lighter, has a lower carbon footprint, and is fully recyclable. We believed its exterior should be as "smart" as its interior.

Can the tin be bent or punctured during shipping?

Don't worry, tin is much more durable than you think!
There's no risk of it shattering like glass. Even if it takes very hard knocks during shipping, at most a small "dent" will occur (which we call a good luck charm), but it will never crack or leak. Nevertheless, if there's anything you're not happy with when your package arrives, just take a picture and send it to us; we'll compensate you immediately.

Can I send it as a gift? Does the invoice go with it?

Olios makes a wonderful gift (especially for new homeowners or foodies!).
Simply write "Gift" in your order notes. We don't include the invoice with the price inside the box; we send it digitally to your email address. The recipient only gets to enjoy the delicious taste of Olios.
